Obituary of Nicholas Charles Romano

Nicholas Charles Romano 93, has returned to our Lord 10/12/2023 after a long battle with Parkinson’s. Born December 20, 1929 to Peter and Mary Romano in Mt Cisco, New York. Nick was in the Air Force after High School and fought in the Korean War. After returning home from the war, he met and married Joan T. Pastore May 08, 1954. They have 4 children, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. He is survived by, Children: Michael (Kathy, 4 children, Tracy, Michael Jr. (2 children, Grace and Giana), Peter (Courtney and Emilia), and Anthony, Mary (Susie), Amy Darcy (Tom, and 2 Boys Jameson and Keaton), Nicholas (3 children, Isabella, Gabriela, Nico).  Nick will be missed by many extended family members and friends.

Nick worked for IBM and they lived in Poughkeepsie, NY until 1966 when they moved to Longmont, Colorado and raised their children until 1978 when they moved to Tucson, Arizona and have lived in Tucson ever since. Nick worked for IBM and Joan worked for Sabino High school until they retired in 1984.

Both Nick and Joan were very family oriented and were always there for their children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. In Longmont Colorado Nick was he was very involved in barbershop singing as a member of the Boulder Colorado chorus and the "Music Showcase" Quartet. He traveled to several International Conventions around the country and Canada with family and friends. While living in Colorado he developed a love for Coors beer and the Denver Broncos. When they moved to Tucson, they vacationed in Rocky Point, Mexico frequently, with family and friends, where they had a condo. Nick was very artistic, painted, did stained glass, and played Golf. Nick was a very strong man who took care of his family.

Nick and Joan have been parishioners of St. Pius X Catholic Church since 1978. Both were very active with many church activities, and were lay ministers. Nick was a member of the Knights of Columbus and was a 4th degree and Grand Knight for several years. Both Dad and Mom have many friends at St. Pius X. Nick was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend to all. He had a great sense of humor right up until the end.

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Pius X Catholic Church.
