Obituary of James Herman Lammers
James Herman Lammers passed away in Tucson, Arizona, on Tuesday, August 29, at the age of 81. Jim is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Lammers, his son Dennis Lammers, daughter Kimberly Lammers, brother Robert Lammers, sisters Shirley Pyle and Ruth Ann Kinstle, along with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He is preceded by his parents, Frank and Lillian Lammers, along with his daughter (infant) Stephanie Lammers.
Jim was born on February 12, 1942, in Breese, Illinois. After completing High School, he attended college at Rolla School of Mines in Missouri, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with a specialty in mining and metals. He moved to California for his work, which led him to travel the world designing mines to include gold, silver, copper, and zinc. This career also allowed him to take his family on many world adventures, including living in South Africa and Australia. His career moved him to Tucson for his final mine design, where he would ultimately retire.
Jim was an avid bowler who would bowl twice weekly and practice whenever possible. He was a devout Catholic and was at peace with God at his passing from an Aortic Dissection while holding his wife’s hand. He suffered from Lewy body dementia towards the end, so we ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to:
