So many memories in such a short bit of time. I will never forget the rubber rattlesnake on the flight line or the massive crack you hit on the frontage road when we wer training for El Tour, but more than anything else was the support you showed my wife when I found myself in the hospital back in 15. All the words in the world will never fill your absence brother, love you and see you again.

I have been thinking of John a lot the past few days and I want his family to know some of my memories of John. I first met John about 30 years ago, we both worked at Hotton Aviation (Cessna dealer at Tucson Airport) John had a 5.0 Mustang then as did I and we talked about those a lot. I can tell you that he was so proud of being in the guard. He would tell me which block of F-16 was flying by. Years later we worked together at the Guard. I recall him being a fitness freak back then. I believe he was doing Body for Life at that time. Another memory I have is talking to John about kids. He was encouraging me with issues I was having with my son. I don’t think I ever saw John in a negative mood. He was always soft spoken and kind. He will be missed very much. I pray that God will give his family comfort in your memories and heal your hurt.

John showed me what it meant to be a genuinely kind father figure to look up to as I grew up. He and Beth never hesitated to take me into their home and he always made sure I felt like I was part of the Slaby household by going so far as to make sure I had a key in case I ever needed a place to stay. His actions and gestures without a doubt shaped the course of my life for the better. He taught those around him incredible values and made sure that the people he cared about always felt safe and protected. He was the one who truly made me feel like I was a second daughter to him and that type of kindness is immeasurable. The Slaby family is and has been constantly the most sincere people I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. My heart is heavy to know that any pain is being felt amongst the family, and I extend my condolences deeply. John was truly an amazing soul and I'm grateful to have ever had the pleasure and privilege of knowing him as long as I did. I know he will continue to look over his family for generations to come.
