I was very fortunate to visit Sofia recently after being her friend and neighbor some fifteen plus years ago. She shared with me during our visit how very proud of her children she was and how loving and attentive they were. Sofia also shared that she had had some significant health struggles and how her life had drastically changed. As I listened, I was saddened to here how she had gone through so many obstacles; but what I noticed so clearly was her loving and strong spirit, just as it had always had been. Her eyes so bright and her mannerisms still so very expressive. But what I loved the best was her laughter. Still intoxicating and so captivating it would draw you to want to be around her all the time. Sofia, my friend I will miss you.
Mi pensamiento de cariño y acompañamiento para esa parte común de la familia que compartí con Sofía, a quien dejé de ver por muchos años, pero recuerdo con la nitidez del presente. Y mis condolencias para toda esa familia que ya no conocí y que debe estar muy triste por su partida. Vuela alto, mi prima querida.
My condolences to the Perez Matorana family. Sofia was an extremely professional classy woman. Spanish dialect to perfection. I don't think there's anybody on this Earth who can make cooking food sound so incredibly sensual. She had a beautiful soul and friendly smile and always willing to be helpful. We had a lot of good times! My heart is broken she will be greatly missed. Denise Furtado
