Obituary of Lola Trimmer
Lola left this world Tuesday, August 18th with her family by her side, leaving behind a lifetime full of memories. Her legacy will forever live in the lives and hearts she touched in her years on this earth.
As we reflect on the highlight reel of Lola’s life, her family will remember her as our strong, loving, and strikingly beautiful wife, mom, sister, Nanas, and friend with her signature jet black hair, fiery red lips, “dressed to the nines” for any occasion, and a personality that lit up a room when she entered.
On March 26, 1960, Lola married the love of her life, Carl Trimmer, and together they raised five children, Tom (Paula) Trimmer, Rick (Lila) Trimmer, Debbie (George) Carlson, Lori (Dwayne) Myers & Kim (Brian) Gardner in their home on Oklahoma Street. Their family grew welcoming grandkids and then again with great-grandchildren: Jeff (Rika) Olson; Rick Trimmer, Kristi Trimmer, Valerie (Scott) Weller and their children: Rhiana & Ryan; Vickie (Brandon) Griffin and their children: Tyler & Jessica; Joey Gallardo and son Elliot; Stephanie (Scott) Brandt and their children: Madison & Mackenzie; Carie (Jeff) Ault and their son Jacob; Brian (Theresa) Carlson and their children: Peyton, Presley & Chase; Josh Myers; Kelsey Ochoa and her children: Gilly, Santiago, & Ilyanna; Kaitlyn Gardner and Troy Gardner.
Through the years, Lola and Carl hosted the family’s most precious and fun-filled days from Christmas Eve with Lola’s famous tamales to Sunday BBQs on the patio, which was her sanctuary. Some of the happiest moments in Lola’s life were watching her family outgrow that home, the one she and Carl shared until her passing.
There will never be enough words to sum up the story that Lola’s life told. We can reflect on our favorite memories of her, like watching her dance in the arms of the man she loved for more than 60 years, or her sitting by Carl’s side as they drove away in her ’59 Ford Fairlane. They were the epitome of love and strength. Lola was Carl’s number one fan as he raced his way to Victory Circle more than 700 times in his career behind the wheel of a race car. Lola was an adventurous soul and loved to travel, sitting on the sandy beaches of Mexico and Hawaii, shopping in New York City, or sightseeing in Cape Cod, and visiting the castles of Ireland were just some of the highlights in her life. She passionately loved her family and friends. If she left her lipstick mark on your cheek, you knew you were special. It was Lola’s way. She truly was one in a million, a beautiful soul, and our lives are better because of her.
Lola’s presence on this earth will be missed more than anything by Carl, their beloved kitty, Ginger, and her large, extended family including her two brothers; Tony (Helen) Esquivel, and Ignacio Esquivel. We take comfort in the celebration she is having as she is reunited with her parents, Antonia & Lorenzo Esquivel; her sisters: Mary Canez, Rosario Rios, and Rita Valdez; her brothers: Larry Esquivel and Raymond Esquivel; and her precious granddaughter, Vicki Lynne, as well as her friends who left this world before her. We have no doubts that in true Lola fashion, the love, laughter, and stories in those reunions will be great and many.
Lola’s life will be celebrated on Friday, September 4 at 9:00 am at Pantano Christian Church with a private burial at All Faith’s Cemetery immediately following.
We will honor Lola’s request to continue to celebrate her life in the very way she wanted and hope you join us in raising one more glass for her. Please share your fondest memories with us here.
