Obituary of Andrew Jeffrey Hinsdale
Andrew J. Hinsdale of Oro Valley, Arizona lost his battle with cancer on September 24, 2017. Born June 29, 1952 on Long Island, New York to Edwin and Marcella Hinsdale, Andy grew up in New York, New Jersey, and Indiana. He earned a dual BS/MS in aeronautical engineering from Purdue University in 1976, and began his career with Hughes Aviation in Los Angeles. New opportunities took Andy to the Dallas area where he worked for Texas Instruments, Raytheon, and Nortel Networks before he moved to the Tucson Raytheon office in 2002. While in Dallas, he earned his MBA from Southern Methodist University. He was also selected to serve on an industrial group that advised NATO. In Tucson, he became a Senior Engineering Fellow, and very much enjoyed first becoming certified, then teaching as an adjunct professor in the systems engineering master's program at Johns Hopkins University.
Andy is survived by his wife Janice Hinsdale of Oro Valley, son, daughter-in-law, and grandson James, Nikki, and Troy Hinsdale of Marana, as well as three siblings: Edwin Hinsdale of Fishers, Indiana, Kirsten Hinsdale of Foxboro, Massachusetts, and Mary Jo Hinsdale of Salt Lake City, Utah. He was preceded in death by his daughter Amelia Hinsdale Bintz. Andy enjoyed watching and attending football and baseball games, but he also loved attending opera and classical music events and he passed that appreciation on to family members. He was a loving son, husband, father, brother and friend who touched many lives along his way, and he will be dearly missed. We will celebrate his life at the Episcopal Church of the Apostles in Oro Valley on October 12, 2017 at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
