Arliss was from the famous Baumgarten family who lived south of Bethesda and near to the Immanuel Lutheran churcn. My great great grandmother Hennaman was brought to the United states by Arlliss's great great great grandfather. We loved sharing stories about family ties and the wonderful Immanuel Lutheran community (Page County, Nodaway Township, Iowa) to which all the farmers for miles around belonged. I lived about 10 minutes from her in Tucson and frequently spent time with her reading the stories she wrote about Iowa Farm lfe. Bless her soul. I will miss her there aren't many so full of history around. I recommend going to the Page County Museum, Clarinda Iowa to read copies of her books. They are great.
