Cassie Robertson

Obituary of Cassie Rose Robertson

Cassie Rose Robertson, age 90, of Oro Valley, Arizona, passed away April 18, 2024.

She was born to James and Jenny Roszell, August 10, 1932 in Limerick, Saskatchewan, Canada. She went to the local one room school and graduated completing 1st-8th grades as that was the only formal schooling available in her area.

She was married to William D. Robertson on May 29, 1954. Cassie is survived by her two sons Ian Robertson and Colin Robertson, both of Tucson, Arizona. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and 2  great-great-grandchildren. Cassie was predeceased by her loving husband in 2006.

Cassie was the eldest of 7 children. She is predeceased by her siblings Beryl (Eldon Casemore), Wayne (Lois Roszell), and Shirley (James) Kerr, and survived by Marlene (Don Hawkins), Leora (Clem Martinez), and Elenore (Frank McGinnis). When her youngest sibling, Wayne, turned 80 - all 7 children were alive and in their 80's at the same time.

After completing her schooling Cassie helped raise her 6 younger siblings and worked around the house. She left to go to Vancouver and stayed with family and worked there several years. She returned to Limerick and worked in the CO-OP in Assiniboia where she met, and later married, William Robertson.

She was a hard worker and devout employee that worked in the grocery business throughout her entire career. She retired after 20 years of service in the mid 1990's from Safeway in Tucson, AZ, where she remained the rest of her life.

She was an avid bowler in leagues, active in her church, and always involved with family bringing up her 2 boys in school, sports, Boy Scouts of America, and whatever else the family was doing. She was an accomplished cook and baker and kept her family, friends, and everyone we brought home full and happy for having a delicious meal and dessert... there was always room at her table for another place setting. She kept a beautiful home and yard (also a garden when there was space) that was always welcome to family, or friends, for dinner or staying over. In Tucson she had her rose garden of 35+ rose bushes of assorted colors and all smelled wonderful in full bloom every year.

She traveled, in part due to her husbands job relocating the family several times. From Assiniboia to Grand Forks, ND, then to Minneapolis, MN, then to Tucson, AZ, then to Richmond, VA, and finally back to Tucson, AZ where they both retired.
During her working days, and a lot more after retiring, she traveled the world with her husband to Europe, the Netherlands, Australia, the far East, Great Britain, and many islands including Hawaii, Jamaica, Bermuda, and the Bahamas. Several times they went on cruises to different parts of the world and got to stop at many different ports to visit and shop. She truly enjoyed to travel, to meet people, and of course - go shopping. But wherever she went, if you were graced to meet Cassie, you had a new friend.

She always knew her neighbors and had friends across the globe... especially in Canada, the United States, and United Kingdom. She wrote letters, Christmas cards, and personal notes to all. She would know the date of everyone's birthday, anniversary, wedding, graduation, etc. and would make all feel as special to her as she was to them.

She was truly loved by all and gave herself to them as only she could.
