Obituary of Arillis Mae See

Arillis Mae See

March 8, 1923 – March 22, 2024

Arillis Mae See, 101, of Tucson Arizona, and formerly of Christiansburg and North Hampton, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home under hospice care on March 22, 2024.

She was born in Springfield, Ohio, on March 8, 1923, to Edwin and Maude Marie (Devore) Wigginton, and was the fourth child of six (three boys and three girls). She attended school in Clifton, Ohio, until her family moved to Richmond, Indiana, where she graduated from Richmond High School. While living in Clifton, as a young child she started taking piano lessons and often she and her mother walked the three miles to the home of her piano teacher in Yellow Springs. After hearing her play at a piano recital, a professor from Antioch College generously paid for her lessons and sheet music to continue her studies. Throughout her life, singing, dancing, and playing her piano (and keyboard) was an important part of her life that brought her great joy.

Arillis was outgoing and friendly to all she met. Her kindness and generosity were like a light to everyone, and it was easy to see why people were drawn to her. She was a truly caring individual.

She was a member of the Olivet Chapter Order of Eastern Stars in Christiansburg, Ohio, for almost 63 years.

Arillis was married to Raymond L. See for 38 years and in 1979 upon retirement, they moved to Tucson, Arizona. After his passing she remained in Tucson because of the weather, the people, and numerous friends that she had made.

She is preceded in death by Raymond L. See (husband), R. Michael See (son) and is survived by daughter Patricia (Timothy) McClain of Tucson, Arizona; son John W. (Deborah) See of Centerburg, Ohio; grandson Michael T. (Brooke) See of Blacklick, Ohio; granddaughter Jennell (Josh Wickham) See of Columbus, Ohio; great grandsons Raymond and William See and great granddaughter Guinevere Wickham, and numerous extended family members.

A celebratory service will be held later in the year when she will be reunited with her husband at the Clifton-Union Cemetery in Clifton, Ohio.
