Obituary of Anita Gloria May Drury
Anita Gloria May Baca Drury was born on January 4, 1942 in Metmore, New Mexico to Joe and Lola Baca. Our beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt and friend passed away on December 9, 2023 at the age of 81. Survived by her children, sons Charles (Rhonda) Drury, David (Terie) Drury, and daughter Becky (Ken) Hall. Her sisters Julie, Liz, and Sally and her brothers Joe, Ernie, and Lee. Preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Lola Baca and partner, Dean Stockwell. The Baca family moved to Tucson when Anita was 3 years old. She attended Miles Elementary, Roskruge Jr. High and Tucson High School where she met her future husband Charles Drury, Anita excelled in photography and took numerous pictures of her family members. Anita gained employment through her photography teacher at Color Classics as a film developer. After high school, Anita married Charles and had three children Charles, David, and Becky. The Drury family moved to various cities, and finally settled in Tonopah, Nevada. Anita worked for the telephone company, in Tonopah, Nevada, as an operator where after her divorce, she supported her children by working the night shift. Although her road was rocky at times, Anita never failed to fill a room with her sweet smile and delightful laughter. She loved her family deeply and always shared fond memories of her childhood and her life adventures. Anita never failed to put her children first and loved them with all she was. In her free time Anita loved to craft, she crocheted, painted ceramics, created jewelry and made magic wallets which she sold all over Tonopah. When not crafting, Anita enjoyed watching movies. In fact, she had shelves and shelves full of movies. Her love of crafting was not only handed down to her children but also to her nieces and nephews. It was instilled even further to a daughter-in-law. There were many summers the Bemis family would visit and spend their days painting, nights watching movies and cooking delicious meals, together as a family. Anita met Dean Stockwell and enjoyed their times in the outdoors. Dean proposed to Anita but before they could get married, he passed away. Anita promised Dean that she would take care of his mother, Katie so, she stayed in Tonopah, in the family home, which she eventually made her own. Anita’s final resting place will be in the place she called home, Tonopah, Nevada.
