I was fortunate to meet Ken 2 or 3 years ago when he joined us at Southern Arizona Teen Aviation as a volunteer mentor. He brought with him a tremendous amount aviation skill and knowledge that he shared with our students and mentors.
I loved the way he would question someone as they finished a task or project that may have had some deficiency. Instead of criticizing the person or task he would smile look them in the eye and ask “Are you happy with the way that turned out”. The gentle sarcasm in his voice would let them know that they should probably go back and re-do the work.
Ken led the effort at Ryan to keep our SATA RV12 flying. He and Glenn Brasch had just finished the 2023 conditional inspection in early December. Ken and I jumped in, with Ken in the left seat, for a test flight. Despite his limited time in the plane he did 3 wonderful landings in a strong cross wind.
