Obituary of Tanner Joseph Winterton

Tanner Joseph Winterton was born October 24, 2005 in Panama City, Florida. Tanner departed this life on November 27, 2023 in Tucson, Arizona. 

Tanner is survived by his parents Laurie and Phillip Winterton and his siblings Emily, Isaac, Chloe, Tyler, Claire and Dean, his grandparents Gayle and Glenn McCoy, aunts, uncles and cousins. Tanner is also survived by a nephew. Tanner is preceded in death by his grandparents Laura and Harold Winterton.  

He is the fourth of seven siblings. Tanner spent most of his life in Arizona where he enjoyed many outdoor activities. Tanner enjoyed going to the park with his family, especially with his nephew. He also enjoyed taking long bike rides. 

Tanner’s competitiveness showed in many ways, one of which was through his passion for playing video games where he almost always bested his siblings and friends. His favorite snack was pizza rolls or splitting a frozen pizza with his brother. Tanner also played the guitar, having both an acoustic and electric guitar.  He was very musically talented, easily picking up new songs without really ever having any formal training. Tanner would often play a song over and over and over again until he had it perfected.

Tanner was a senior in high school where he was taking multiple AP classes and dual enrollment classes and had already received some college credit.  

Tanner was often quiet and reserved but those who were close to him knew of his quick wit and quirky sense of humor. 

Tanner has a big heart and was always willing to help, bless and serve others. 

A viewing will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023 from 9:30-9:45am followed by the funeral services at 10am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints building located at 3500 West Sumter Drive in Tucson, Arizona. Tanner will be buried on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at The Binghampton Cemetery. 

Tanner’s passing has left a void in the hearts of all who knew him. His memory will forever be cherished, and his spirit will live on through the love and memories shared by his family and friends until we all meet again in the presence of our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ for Eternity. Families are Forever!
