Obituary of Alma LaRue Shomo
Alma LaRue Shomo, 90, passed away on November 28, 2023, after a lengthy illness. She was born on June 24, 1933, in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, and was the daughter of the late Boyd and Mabel Stiles. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Cyril F. Shomo; sister, Barbara Rager; and sister-in-law, Anita Stiles.
She is survived by her children, Deborah Fisher and Cyril (Cindy) Shomo. LaRue's legacy extends to her grandchildren, Tiffany (Chris) Massie, Shelby Massie and Michael Powell. She also leaves behind four cherished great-grandchildren, Jayden, Jaxon, Jameson, and Arizona; along with two brothers, Thomas (Donna) and Boyd Stiles, and many nieces and nephews.
A compassionate soul, LaRue dedicated her time to the service of others, notably through her volunteer work with her church, the Red Cross and Northwest Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Adair Funeral Home (Avalon Chapel) on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 10 am. Pastor Steve Van Kley will officiate, honoring LaRue's life and the impact she had on those around her. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a charitable contribution of choice in LaRue's memory. May she rest in eternal peace.
