Obituary of Joan Lukas Peyton
Peyton, Joan L., [97] the strongest, most independent, and caring person we know, passed away peacefully on Oct 2nd, 2023. Predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years Charles, and her brother Lawrence Lukas of Columbus, OH. Amazing mother to son Kyle (Renee), and daughters Beth (Robert) Fulfer and Johanna (Paul) Hallums, all of Tucson. She loved her grandchildren Lindsey, Crystal, Scott, Peyton, Kathryn, as well as her great grandchildren Andrew, Lukas, Charlotte & Adelaide. and her extended grandchildren Debra, Jeff, Joe, Mary, Stephen, & Melissa. Born Sept 2, 1926 in Wheeling, W.VA, to Joseph and Freda (Goeddel) Lukashewich, Joan graduated from West Liberty State College in Wheeling and moved to Tucson in 1951 teaching English at Mission View Elementary. A two-year adventure led them to Argentina for Charles’ job after which they brought their family back to Tucson to stay in 1957. Joan prioritized raising her family, while actively participating in Garden Club, Bridge Clubs, and singing in the Church Choir. Later in life she sold real estate, travelled with Charles, became a PEO Sister (Chapter BQ) and friend to many at Villa Hermosa. Joan and Charles made many lifelong friends to whom she was the consummate hostess, entertaining with ease, and she will certainly be missed by her family and friends. A private ceremony will be held for family to celebrate her and the wonderful life she led. The family suggests that any memorials be made in Joan’s name to “PEO Int’l Foundation” online. Arrangements by Adair Funeral Home. Joan’s enjoyment of, and respect for others, endeared her to all.
