Obituary of Charlton Phillip Watson

Charlton “Chuck” Phillip Watson passed away peacefully in Tucson, Arizona on Sunday, August 6th at the age of 64. Chuck is survived by his mother Margaret of Colorado, his sons, Christopher and Matthew of Oregon, and Tommy of Arizona, his daughters, Kristen and Cheyenne of Oregon, and Melissa of Arizona, his brothers Jeffery of South Carolina, Randy of Colorado, and Steven of Georgia, his sisters Janet of Colorado, Marge of South Carolina, and Deana of Georgia, 8 nieces and nephews, and 5 grandchildren. He is proceeded by his father, Harold Dean Watson of South Carolina. Chuck was born on November 28, 1958 in Columbia, South Carolina to Margret and Harold Watson. He has two high school diplomas, one from Union, South Carolina and one from Brighton, Colorado where he began his lifelong devotion to the Denver Broncos. He joined the United States Army in 1977, where he became a crew chief on a CH-47 running rescue in 1980 at St. Helens. After his time in the service, Chuck worked for McDonnell Douglas and Rockwell International where he built and maintained submarines, air craft, and four space shuttles. He became a father to his first child, Melissa, in 1985 in Newport Beach, CA. Four years later his son, Matthew was born in Roseburg, OR. His marriage to Elisa in 1997 made his family complete with his youngest son Christopher in Union South Carolina. Chuck lived a full life with a full heart. A Sunday school teacher to all his children, he instilled Christian values of love, discipline, and forgiveness. As a Harley enthusiast, his days off were occupied with long rides with his sons, daughter, and friends. As an avid hunter, he taught his sons patience, respect and determination.

The Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, August 12 at 11 am. Mountain View Baptist Church will facilitate the service. Pastor Jared Moore will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Chuck’s life.
