I first met Carrol when I was 3 years old. I thought he was the most handsome man I'd ever seen, and wanted to marry him when I grew up. As the years went on, I realized that couldn't happen, and I just enjoyed the times I shared being with my older sister and her family.
In 1972 when my mother-in-law suddenly passed away, Betty and Carrol were very kind and generous to us. They understood that my husband had lost several days of work, and they gave generously to help get us through that time. Carrol and Betty would take me many places with their family, as if I were part of them.
He taught me how to shoot a rifle, but mostly how quiet strength is much better than an eager tongue in most situations. He was truly one of the greatest people I've ever known.
