Obituary of Dolores Elizabeth Ciecierski
Dolores E. (Contento) Ciecierski passed away peacefully on March 3, 2023. Dolores was preceded in death by her husband Thaddeus (Teddy). She is survived by her 4 children; Donna, Steven (Dawn), Frank (Laurie) & Mary. Dolores has 9 grandchildren (Jessica, Jennifer, Melissa, Michael, Angel, Lindsey, Frankie, James & Justin) and 9 great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Dolores was born on March 28, 1929 in Brooklyn, New York. She was the youngest of 6 children born to Joseph & Mary Contento. She was preceded in death by Jean, Lillian, Mike, Fran & Joseph.
Dolores lived on 71st Street through the Great Depression and World War II. After High School, she went to work in Downtown Manhattan for Remington Rand and enjoyed a brief stint as a Fashion Model before marrying Teddy in 1955.
They set up a home on 66th Street where they raised their 4 children. Along with her career of being a full time mother, she enjoyed much success as a Sarah Coventry sales rep, often hosting parties both at home and at the customers’ homes.
In 1978, the family relocated to Tucson, Arizona. After Teddy passed in 1979, Dolores went to work at McDonald’s, greeting customers and helping them enjoy their meals in the dining room. “Mrs. C” was adored by crew and customers alike.
After this, she worked at St Cyril’s church where she ran the kitchen; shopping, prepping and cooking for the priests.
After “retiring” she concentrated on family again. She lived in Upstate New York with her son and family for a short time and then settled back in Tucson where she lived with her daughter and grandchildren. Once the grandchildren were gone, she moved into Fellowship Square where she enjoyed Independent Living and formed new friendships. Most recently, she was a resident of Devon Gables.
One of the families fondest memories of Dolores revolve around the kitchen table playing poker, she loved teaching her children and grandkids how to count by teaching them to play poker with her! Seldom was there a family gathering where playing cards didn’t come out.
She was a big fan of old movies. Turner Classic Movies was almost always tuned in on her TV. One of her best memories was the time she met Debbie Reynolds. She was also a big music fan, Frank Sinatra and Tony Bennett were amongst her favorites.
The family would like to thank all of her care givers at Devon Gables and Sage Hospice for helping to make her final days more comfortable.
In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
