Obituary of Jack Kelly
Jack Kelly, age 90, passed peacefully away at his ranch home in the San Pedro River valley near Redington, AZ on February 17. He was born Oct. 5, 1932 in Willcox. He was delivered by his blind, great grandmother who was a midwife. By the time he graduated from high school, his family had moved 13 times. After marrying his sweetheart, Lois Bingham, he was ready to put down roots.
Jack and Lois have been married more than 71 years. They had 6 children and took in foster children as well. His chosen professions included ranching and farming, but he spent over 20 years underground at Magma Copper Company to support his large family. After a long shift in the mine, he would work either on the family ranch or farm. All who knew Jack, whether work partners or family, always said he was the “hardest working man” they had ever known. But, no matter how tired he was, he was always ready and willing to help anyone in need.
Jack’s wife, Lois, always came first, and then his family. He was a God-fearing man and always wanted to be an example to his children.
Jack felt blessed to be the patriarch of a large family including 29 grandchildren, 81 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren. He was loved and admired by all as he taught by example how to work, love, and live. Many hearts are saddened but are comforted by their knowledge that they will be with him again.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 24th at 11:00 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints,101 N Giffen Avenue, San Manuel, AZ 85631
