Luis Gomez

Obituary of Luis Odlanier Gomez

Luis Odlanier Gomez, “Oscar” passed away on January 21, 2023, surrounded by his family and loved ones. Oscar was born on January 25, 1957 in San Felipe, Venezuela. He spent his childhood with his six siblings and loving parents, Yolanda and Jose Reinaldo. He came to study in Arizona in the late 70s, joining his brother, Cheo, and his sister, Hedyna. Turns out this was the best move he could have made, as he met the love of his life, Elizabeth, “Ely,” in Tucson shortly after. The two wed on December 28, 1983 in Mexico. After living in Venezuela for a little over a year, the pair moved to Tucson, where they welcomed their first child, Melissa, in 1986. Oscar was an entrepreneur and founded his own self-run business, Computer Trading, during this time. The family continued to grow when Oscar Luis was born in 1989, Alexander in 1994, and Erick Alberto in 1998. Oscar was a devout Catholic and loved taking pilgrimages with his wife, Ely, to various holy places. He loved being with his family and friends, visiting the beach, haggling at the swap-meet, and walking in the wash behind his home. But most of all, his face would light up with pride and love when he was around his family. Oscar and Ely celebrated the marriages of Melissa and AJ, Erick and Madison, and Oscar Luis and Bethany. They have two grandchildren, Marcel and Liliana, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews. Oscar was extremely giving and selfless. He had open arms, always more than willing to help, and especially feed, others. He loved sharing the accomplishments of his children and their spouses with others. We will all miss his gentle nature, generous heart, and outgoing personality.

He was a beloved son, brother, husband, father, uncle, grandfather (baba), and friend.

Services will be held at St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Parish, 5150 North Valley View Road, Tucson, Arizona on Friday, January 27 at 10:30am.

El servicio funerario será en la iglesia St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Parish, 5150 North Valley View Road, Tucson, Arizona on Friday, January 27 at 10:30am
