Our hearts are heavy as we consider Alan's passing and Mariellen grieving his loss. We pray for encouragement and peace for Mariellen and the entire family of our dear brother, Alan. He served the Kingdom of God well for fifty years.
I remember the first time I met Alan, in 1994. I understood he had served as the Christians in Action Asia Area Director for many of his twenty-seven years serving in Japan. Due to some challenges in Okinawa that demanded his attention he flew down to visit the leadership at Kadena Community Church, now Yomitan International Church. I was in the elder/deacon meeting wherein Alan joined us. As the pastor outlined the challenges we were facing Alan got down on the floor and literally pounded on the floor as he cried out to God to rescue and deliver us from the serious challenge we were facing. I was as surprised as impressed by his passion! He really cared for us and it showed!
I met Alan again nearly twenty years later in 2012 at the Christians in Action Woodlake campus and again in 2019 after joining the staff at Christians in Action. His bright countenance and stark attention to detail were matchless. He was a positive, "get-it-done" type of person. He greatly helped me and the staff of Christians in Action during a difficult transition in bookkeeping staff. He willingly flew out to California from his home in Arizona to help me for six weeks. His contribution was invaluable. What a powerful example of servanthood he exemplified.
I thank God for the privilege of serving with him during my time with Christians in Action.
May his legacy live on in the lives of others who will give themselves to the propagation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Bless you brother Alan as you have now met your Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, face-to-face.
We will miss you. But we grief not as the world that has no hope. We will see you again.
