Obituary of Cornelia Ramsia Simmons
Cornelia Ramsia Simmons a.k.a. “Connie” was born February 25, 1961 to her parents Ramadan and Grete Dzapo. In her life she was a mother, wife, leader, creator and friend. She committed to the care of those around her and was always there for others with a listening ear and said words of advice. In her parting she leaves behind her husband James Simmons Jr., her six children Ines, Andreas, Melissa, Deidra, Dominic and Alexis, nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
In her life she demonstrated a love for horticulture, individuals with disabilities and the elderly and passed on that knowledge and compassion to those around her. Connie was great at many things and made sure that she instilled these skills in her children. Amongst these were crochet, cooking, gardening and a crazy sense of humor. She taught those around her to laugh even when there seemed to be little to be joyous about.
In 1990 Connie moved to the United States from Germany after marrying James and they continued to grow their family. After coming to the states she worked for Samsonite, Tucson Nursery childcare center, the Department of Developmental Disabilities, and a plant nursery before she made a change to doing private in-home care for an elderly couple, Mr. Dan and Mrs. Iris, whom she loved dearly. She cared for them both until she was unable to, beginning her long-lasting battle with cancer. She passed December 30th, 2022 after a five-year battle with brain cancer.
