Aunt Deb,
I am so sad that I will not have another chance to see you, to laugh with you, or spend time with you. You always had a way of making me feel so special whenever I was around you. You were someone I have always looked up to. I am sad for all of the missed opportunities, but happy that you are no longer suffering. You were an angel on earth and anyone who knew you knew that. I hope you are with Grandma Pat laughing and cutting up, catching up on all the years missed between you two. You have no idea how missed you are. I will always love you.

Debi was a kind, thoughtful soul and tremendous mentor. I consider myself blessed to have been able to learn from her and carry those lessons with me in my classroom to this day. I have so many fond memories of laughing with Debi while we worked together. I think of the many conversations we had about her two boys, she loved sharing baseball stories and about the silly jokes they would play on her and each other. She had a light in her eyes when she talked about her boys and I think about her often as I raise my own. I am so sorry for your loss and send prayers for strength and peace as you move forward. Her legacy lives on in D303 and she will be fondly remembered.

We were so sad to hear about Deb’s passing. Our condolences to Phil, KC, and Cory. We were reminiscing about all the different sports teams that the boys played on together and the great times and trips; South Elgin Patriots football, IL Lightning Baseball and South Elgin Bulldogs basketball. Deb would be cheering like crazy for all the kids so much so that she lost her voice a few times. Deb’s home was where the boys would hang out with Cory, playing backyard wiffle ball and getting into mischief. Deb left us all with wonderful memories that we will look back on fondly.

Deb made me feel like I was worthy of love. The impact that she had on my life has shaped me into the woman I am today. Mrs. Wright was my 4th grade teacher back in 2004. I moved to a different state soon after and never saw her again but I will never forget the kindness she showed us. She was an incredible person and spurred a passion for reading and writing in me at a young age that carried me all through the rest of my education. Not sure if any other former students still remember but that silly angel ornament we made with our picture in the middle is still my parents’ favorite to get out every Christmas. Phil, KC and CO, we are sending so many prayers and hugs to you guys! My heart is truly broken. Deb was that one of a kind friend with an undeniable light in her eyes! We immediately connected when she moved to Wellington during our sophomore year in high school. I have so many great memories as college roommates at Emporia State. Walking 8 floors of stairs with wrestling sweats on, running to Golden Corral so we could eat about 3 bowls each of chocolate mousse pudding just to name a couple. We always picked right up where we left off even if we only talked every other month while raising kids. Every time our families got together, it was pure joy! I will always miss you Deb! My heart is heavy hearing this news. Debi was always smiling, always problem solving, always looking forward. She was a true beam of light to anyone around her. I will never forget all of our chats and bachelor pizza nights. She was truly a “mom away from home” for me, especially during those stressful college years. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Phil, KC and Cory. She was a dear friend and I worked with Debi at Copper Creek. My daughter Kati had Debi for first grade and Mrs. Wright was one of her favorite teachers at CC! My daughter Molly and son Andrew went to the same babysitter (Maureen) and knew KC when he was a toddler.
Memories of Debi were filled with laughter and good times. She was a light and inspiration to all that knew her. I know she will be greatly missed. May your God bring strength, comfort and peace to you all now and in the days to come.

Heaven has truly gained an angel. 2 of my 3 children had Ms Wright as a teacher and she was their favorite! I remember her challenging my son Conor to race and always letting him win. She left such a bright and loving trail of glitter and love with her students. Heart breaking to hear this news. Sending much love and prayers to her family.
