Obituary of Valentin Martinez-Gomez

Valentin was born on December 19, 1934 in San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico. One of twelve children born to Jesusa and Zacaria Martinez. He moved from Puerto Rico to Chicago, Illinois and enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served for twenty-six years, including a tour in Vietnam. 

            He retired in Arizona along with his wife, Cecilia, and their four children. He continued working at the Veterans Administration Hospital and Base Commissary until finally retiring at 80 years old. He enjoyed woodworking, reading, watching western movies and most of all spending time with family. 

            Valentin is survived by his wife of 64 years, Cecilia; daughters Aracelis (Brad) Von Rueden, Cecilia (Brien) Barton, Milli (David) Waterman, and son, Valentin Martinez, Jr. 

Grandchildren: Taniya and Zachary (Mariah) Barben, Chelsea (Carlos) Tellez, and Kayla Senden; Vanessa (Matthew) Hicks, and Stefan Von Rueden; Valentin III, Bianca, Nathaniel, Samuel, Adrian Martinez, and Benito Gonzalez.

Great- Grandchildren: Olivia and Miley Von Rueden; Aiden, Jeremiah, Rowen, and Scarlett Hicks; Parker and Mila Befort; Aiden, Haylie and Carliray Barben; Shea and Harlow Tellez; and Gabriella Putney

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2022 from 8:00AM - 9:00AM at Adair Funeral Homes-Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Norrthern Avenue, Oro Valley AZ 85704 with a Funeral Service at 9:00AM.

Burial will follow with Full Military Honors at the Arizona Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Marana, 15950 N Luckett Road, Marana AZ 85653
