Obituary of Fe Carol Brittain

Fe Carol Pittman Brittain, age 89, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 22, 2022 at her residence.

Fe was born in Unadilla, Georgia on August 13,1932 to Warren and Caro Ellis Pittman. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, Second Lieutenant Kingman M. Brittain, Jr. USAF (Tallahassee, FL), her sisters, Joyce P. Odom (Waynesboro, GA), Dorothea P. Rickards, brother in law H. A. Rickards (Cocoa, FL) and Mary P. Loepp (Tallahassee, FL).

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, H. A. Rickards, Jr. (Cocoa, FL), Joy O. Roberts (Sylvania, GA), Jill Ann Odom (Walterboro, SC), James C. Odom, Jr. (Guyton, GA), Fe Kathryn L. Martinez (Roseville, CA).

Fe grew up in Dania, Florida where she graduated from Broward County High School. She earned her degree from Florida State University where she met her future husband. After her young husband’s tragic death, Fe moved to Chicago, Illinois where she pursued a degree in education and began her teaching career.

In the early 1970’s she moved to Tucson and followed her passion of teaching Spanish. She continued her education until she achieved her doctorate degree. She taught at Pima Community College for many years.

Her love of travel and adventure took her many places including Spain, the Galápagos Islands and Costa Rica also traveling to Mexico many times and often including groups of her students. Many of Fe’s former students continued to keep in touch with her. Fe also enjoyed traveling in her RV with her dogs, visiting friends and family. She loved raising and showing shih tzus winning numerous awards at various dog shows all over the country.

Fe was always warm, fun loving and outgoing. She had many close friends too numerous to name. Her closest, dearest friend was Clare Hamlet, who helped her so very much through her last incredibly difficult years.

Memorial service will be September 19 at 1:00 at St. Alban’s Episcopal Church

Burial will be November 12 at 3:00 at Dania Memorial Cemetery in Dania, F
