Obituary of Glenna Marie Kelly

Glenna Marie (Acker) Kelly passed away peacefully on July 6, 2022, in Tucson, Arizona. Services will be held August 13, 2022, at Adair Funeral Home, Dodge Chapel, 1050 N. Dodge Blvd., Tucson, Arizona 85716.

Glenna was born January 13, 1934, in Edgington, Illinois, at the home of Richard and Alice (McDonald) Acker. She was the oldest of nine children. Glenna graduated from Reynolds High School, Reynolds, Illinois. After graduation she worked in Rock Island.

She married Darryl Kelly on June 6, 1954, at the Presbyterian Church in Edgington, Illinois. In 1960, they moved to Tucson, Arizona. Darryl passed March 7, 2021. They were married for 66 years.

Glenna loved being with her family. The times spent going to sporting events, camping, and hunting trips with family and friends, and family gatherings were her life’s joy. She made the best chocolate chip cookies, ask any of her grandchildren! Her trips to Illinois in the summers were very special to see family. She enjoyed the fellowship with all her sisters and brothers. As years passed, and she could not travel, she would recall the wonderful times spent with her siblings.

Glenna worked for Home Interiors & Gifts for about 30 years. She was a master at decorating. She loved her hostesses and helping them decorate their homes. She was of great service to many people around Tucson.

Surviving Glenna are her four children and spouses: Brian (Jean) Kelly, Benson, AZ.; Bruce (Erin) Kelly, Tucson, AZ.; Brad (Stacey) Kelly, Phoenix, AZ.; Beth (Greg) Hartung, Tucson, AZ. She was grandmother to 21 Grandchildren: 17 Great-grandchildren and Two Great-great grandchildren and one more on the way. Siblings and spouses; Harvey (Mary) Acker, Reynolds, IL.; Marjorie (Bill) Wilkens, Taylor Ridge, IL.; Lois (Frank) Burr, Muscatine IA.; Gary (Donna) Acker, Taylor Ridge, IL.; Nancy (Gary) Williams, Illinois City, IL.; and Dennis (Lisa) Acker, Reynolds, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding Glenna was her husband, Darryl; parents, Richard, and Alice Acker; sister, Shirley Acker Day and brother, Lyle Acker.
