Obituary of Leclare Ruth Gardner

LECLARE RUTH GARDNER peacefully passed away in Tucson, AZ, on July 24, 2022. Leclare was born on June 17, 1932, in Chicago, IL, to the late Leo and Clara Barbott. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, of 46 years, James A. Gardner.

Leclare was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Tucson, AZ, where she worked as church secretary for many years. She was passionate about her service to the church and God. In her free time, she loved surrounding herself with family and close friends. She had a compassionate heart for any and all animals and loved being in nature.

She leaves behind her sons James (Terry) of Red Hill, NM, Duane (Anna) of Tucson, AZ, and Jeffrey of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren include Angelee Gardner of Brooklyn, NY, Valerie (Brayden) Tanner of Monument, CO, Robert Gardner of Tucson, AZ, and Keith (Amy) Killgore of Colorado Springs, CO; great grandchildren include Lauren and Evan Killgore; siblings include Alice Block of Normal, IL, and Dorothy (Gary) Schmidtke of Cedar Lake, IN; numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on September 10, 2022, @ 1:00 PM at Christ Lutheran Vail Church, 14600 E. Colossal Cave Road, Vail, AZ. Reception to follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to ASPCA, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
