Dear Janet,
I want to say thanks for giving me my first job that paid well above the minimum wage hourly rate. Even Eegee's couldn't beat you! (Of course, I have Dan to thank too!) Thanks for doing the payroll accounting research. And, thanks for giving me a credit reference for my first credit card.
However, now that I'm a fully fledged 33 year old man, I have come to appreciate the glimpses I had of your Christian faith. Although we have all fallen short(Ecclesiastes 7:20), I have discovered it is incredibly difficult to stick to the major tenets of the faith with no expectation of reward in this life(Hebrews 11). I do not think any of my childhood friends have stayed the course(Matthew 7:14; Psalm 73). I'm taken back to the time I, unnoticed, walked in on you doing your morning prayers and meditations on your knees in Dan's old room. I remember how you had the complete Left Behind series in your living room which you encouraged others to read. I remember you speaking of God creating the universe. I remember you stating we need to compromise and be loving with political opponents when I was venting about Obama's election(Jude 1:20-23). And I remember Dan often mentioning, "my mom is basically Mother Teresa." Notwithstanding I do not know all the details of your life, I do know you displayed most of the Proverbs 31 woman characteristics when I worked for you. (Now, the challenge is to find such a woman, rarer than rubies, for myself!). Thank you for being a role model of the faith(Titus 2: 3-5) and strongly finishing the race(2 Timothy 4:7).
Finally, I REJOICE in the fact you are now in a superior state and no longer suffering in the flesh! Your death is gain(Philippians 1:18-30)!
Selah and Amen!
Dom
