Chris…my old friend and football teammate at Trinity. You always had to know where Chris was on the field because he hit like a truck. But off the field Chris was a gentle, loyal friend with a soft heart. Sorry I lost touch with him but know that he is in Heaven and we will meet again. Prayers for Chris’s family and friends.

As a rookie cop in Midtown in 2007, I always remembered Chris being there to help out with advice on how to do the job the right way. He wasn’t afraid to walk up and start a conversation with every new cop on the street. He was a cops cop and he loved the job. He called everybody Bud and was always enthusiastic. I really enjoyed working with Chris over the years and our conversations after he retired. Rest In Peace buddy.

Chris, my fellow Steeler fan, my long time co-worker and most importantly, my friend. Heartbroken doesn’t even begin to describe how I feel about your untimely passing. I have never met someone as compassionate as you. You put everyone’s feelings before your own. Your passion for life is something I will forever try to emulate. I choose to remember our happy days. I will never forget the time we watched the Steelers together at your house. Just when I thought we were going to high five and celebrate the lead, you scooped me up off the ground and gave me the biggest bear hug I’ve ever had. I remember being with you the entire night after Ivan was shot. I remember your strength in that moment, more strength than I believe I would have had. I thank you forever for being a part of my life. I will miss your never ending dedication to our Steelers, no matter how bad the reality was. You have left a life long impact on me and everyone who had the absolute honor of knowing you. I am honored that you allowed me to know you, Bryn, Madison and Matthew. My promise to you is that they will forever be an important part of our K-9 family and they will not be left behind. I pray that you are once again the happy Chris that I knew and loved. You will be forever missed and forever loved. Rest In Peace my friend, you made us all proud and you have earned eternal happiness. I love you, and I will miss you forever.

I can not claim to have known Chris as well as the countless others who were devastated by the news of his passing. What I can claim is that he had a significant impact on my career when I was a new officer in FTO. I was going through a very stressful time professionally when I met him on a traffic stop in early 2016. He went out of his way to speak with me one on one. He asked me how I was doing and if I was having fun. He reminded me what a blessing it was just to wear the uniform and to make sure I was taking time to enjoy this unique experience. I have often thought of that brief interaction and how much it boosted my spirits. It helped bring clarity and focus to the journey; both the one as an officer navigating a career, and the more labyrinthine passage as a human being navigating one's way through life. God has himself an amazing man.

Chris and i attended the academy together. Class 99-4 will never be the same my brother. After the academy Chris and i worked closely in the same division for many years. The stories are countless, but one stands out. During our first week in the academy while the entire class was sitting in the "class room" fighting to stay awake Chris became the center of attention. Two of our class councelors charged into the class room screaming. What they were screaming i still have no idea. They then charged at Chris and asked him to stand up and turn around. Chris did as he was told and they promptly placed him in handcuffs and escorted him out of the classroom. We woke up quickly and started looking at each other like lost dogs. Our class Sgt came in and told us that Chris was a wanted felon out of Illinois. She then went on and on about how you just never know who you're sitting next to or what they may do or have already done. All i could think was "how in the hell did you clowns not catch that during the background phase of the testing process?". My mind then wandered to thoughts of how incompetent the agency i had just joined was. I then thought, "damn i actually liked that dude, now i'm gonna have to make another friend here". Making friends is not my strong suit. A few moments later Chris walked back into the class room and took his seat back. Class Sgt then says, "ok class, what did we learn there?". Like, what? Get this damn felon out of the class room, you guys really suck at this job. Then she says that it was just an excersize to show us how quickly things can happen. Chris looked at me like he had no idea it was going to happen, but then did that evil little smirk he did and popped in a peppermint lifesaver. I shook my head and started falling asleep again. Sooooo many stories of my days with my Steelers loving brother, but that one still makes me laugh. I'm gonna miss you "Feno" I love you my brother, Until Valhalla!

..I don't know what to say at a time like this, no words can replace the heart and soul of a lost loved one for Chris's family. Chris was always a good troop, very excited about becoming a police officer, in the academy he was always smiling. My condolences to his family and close friends, may he forever be happy in heaven reunited with his partner Ivan. Rest in peace brother, you will be missed.

I met Chris in 2004 working in Ops Midtown. He was a “Zebra” unit. He always had the low down on who the bad actors were in the Grant & Alvernon area. Years later when I started in K-9 he helped me & Bolt get our first find which is a career hi-light to this day.
I’ll miss the random text messages & big hugs. I’ll cherish LT & Rivers ornaments on my tree. I love you Chris and I’ll miss you.
Rest Easy Brother.

Chris and I started a new job around the same time, it's always nice having another "new guy" around when you start something new, and Chris was that guy for me. Chris was one of those people that when he asked you how you were doing, or how things were going, I felt that he was genuinely interested. He was always himself, he never put on a show, he always gave it to you straight. Chris was a great storyteller and his laugh always stood out in a crowd. He went out of his way to text me during the holidays to wish me well, that's something I'll never forget. Chris will be greatly missed, he was truly one of a kind. #133

Chris... moving every TV in the house to the living room so he could watch/coach multiple football games every Sunday. Loudly. Just the way he was. His laugh. Loud and infectious. How proud he was of his kids. When Madison was a few months old and got her first set of shots, she didn't cry. That made him a very proud papa :-)
