God bless Uncle Ted. We were all blessed to meet on this earth one more time just days before our beloved Unc-Ted passed.
He had some final words for us all on that Sunday before his death that meant the world to us all.
We were so thankful we got over there to the house to see him along with our other Cannon/Deberry cousins and our 'sweet, crazy funny' Aunt Sharon.
She's a hoot & has been by Uncle Ted’s side my entire life. Seeing them all again brought back childhood memories of the 1960’s when we all lived in the L.A. region.
I mentioned how we loved those nights when we’d travel the interstates to arrive for Aunt Sharon’s & Uncle Ted’s “Taco Nights”! It was so good (the massive tray of Tacos!), & so fun to always hang out with our one and only Aunt & Uncle along with the boys.
In fact, when I mentioned the memories of those taco nights, Uncle Ted beamed a smile saying his family had started that many years before when he was a young man himself.
I’m so proud of Uncle Ted. Truly, he was a very good, polite & caring Christian man who always checked in with all us Cannon kids as our lives zoomed into adulthood. I always respected his words of wisdom from my earliest memories (even though during my teenage years I might not have listened so much).
But most importantly — our Uncle was a Godly man who loves his wife & family for all time. We were all blessed to be a part of his extended family and his advice, based on scripture, blessed us all more than he realized at the time. He was truly like a second father to us all. Unfortunately, our interactions were limited once we all grew up and spread out across the country.
Thank goodness Unc-Ted & Aunt Sharon moved out to the Tucson area many years ago to be near mom & dad and my Grandparents in their last years. Dad leaned on my uncle as a dear brother-in-law & Elder in his church … and vice-versa.
RIP Uncle Ted — and please, when you arrive in Heaven, tell our dear dad, GP & Grandma Cannon that we miss them dearly too. <3
