Obituary of Gerald Wayne Williams
Gerald (Jerry) Wayne Williams passed from this life on February 2, 2021, at his Tucson residence after a short bout with cancer.
Jerry was born June 22, 1947, in Champaign, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry and Aldene (Ennis) Williams, and wife Carolyn Sutton Williams. He is survived by two step-sons and older brother Richard (Doloris) of Indianapolis Indiana, older sister Linda (Larry) Moss of Brevard NC, three nephews, one niece, and their families.
Jerry grew up and attended schools in Urbana, Illinois. After high school, he enlisted in the US Navy in 1968 and served aboard the USS. John King, a guided-missile destroyer. He was honorably discharged from the Navy in 1971.
After the Navy, Jerry took courses at Parkland College in Champaign and completed an associate degree in Social Services from Pima Community College in Tucson. He worked as a carpenter, handyman, and in motel maintenance. Jerry liked to travel and made several trips to Europe to avoid the hot Tucson summers.
Jerry was interned at the Arizona Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery at Marana on February 14, 2022. He was a beloved brother, husband and friend.
