Obituary of Gwendolyn Louise Smith

Gwendolyn Louise Smith, 90, passed away on October 26,2021. Gwen passed away in her retirement home at Villa Hermosa with her husband of 68 years, Ed by her side.

A Celebration of Life will be held for her family & friends on Saturday, November 27th from 1 p.m to 5 p.m. at Trails West Clubhouse, located at 8401 S. Kolb Road, Tucson, AZ 85756.Concolence cards may be mailed to Ed Smith at Villa Hermosa, 6300 E. Speedway #1214, Tucson, AZ 85710.

Gwen was born January 28, 1931 in Blair Nebraska on the Love farm. Her father, Ross Love was a farmer & her mother Lela was a homemaker. Gwen preceeded in death, her little sister, Norma Becker who currenly lives in Houston, Texas.

Gwendolyn alos preceeded in death, her husband Edward Avila Smith, 93 who she married in Omaha, Nebraska on April 12, 1953. They had five sons together, Wayne S. Smith (wife, Petrina), Keith E. Smith (wife, trish), Craig A. Smith (wife, Margie), Ross D. Smith (wife, Kimberly), and Kyle E. Smith (wife, Heather), fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.

Gwen enjoyed being the matriarch of the Smith Clan; she cherished her part in being at the top in her big family. She was always full of life and kept busy with many of her favorite hobbies including, piano, singing, dancing, exercising, etc. Unfortunately she had many health problems arise in the year 2020. last July her family honored her for her 90th birthday celebration (postponed from her January birthday month due to COVI-19). We are so grateful to God that she at least made it to see how much her family and friends loved her so. She will forever live in our hearts and we will enjoy the many memories we have of her that always bring a warm smile remembering her.
