Obituary of Cinderella Ida McQuay
Cinderella Ida Emma (Gebhardt) (Wolter) McQuay was born on July 14, 1927 near Lester Prairie, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Christian and Anna (Schroeder) Gebhardt. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church near Lester Prairie, Minnesota.
On October 28, 1945, Cinderella was united in marriage to Clifford Wolter at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church. Cinderella and Clifford made their home in central Minnesota until 1958 when they moved to Tucson, Arizona. They were married for almost 37 years when Clifford passed away in 1982. Cinderella worked many jobs to help support their family; farm work, cleaning, ironing and painting. She also showed the love of Christ by helping and caring for many elderly friends through the years.
On November 2, 1985 Cinderella married Julius (Joe) McQuay at Faith Lutheran Church in Tucson, Arizona. They enjoyed fishing, dancing, and bowling together. They were married for 11 years when Joe passed away.
Cinderella, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 in her home at Fellowship Square, Tucson.
Cinderella was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, daughter Joan Kraak, daughter-in-law Edith Wolter, brothers: Roy, Leonhardt, Christoph, Orlando, and Alexander Gebhardt; sisters: Gladys Cohrs and Rosella Ehrke; brothers and sisters-in-law Ewald Cohrs, Maynard Ehrke, Rosie, Marcella and Rose Ann Gebhardt.
Cinderella will be remembered by her children: Joyce (A.J.) Cox, Larry Wolter, Calvin (Stella) Wolter, son-in-law Gary (Terri) Kraak, grandchildren: Erik (Annie) Wolter and Kelly (Joel) Allman, and her great-grandchildren: John, Lydia, Sophia, and Amelia Wolter and Adi Allman.
A memorial service for Cinderella will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Tucson at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 4th, 2021.
