Obituary of Marjorie Smith

Marjorie “Marge” Smith (Dillon) passed away on July 17, 2021 at age 87 in Tucson, Arizona. Born and raised in Fostoria, Ohio, Marge moved to Tucson in 1953 when she and her husband, Justin, came to Tucson on their honeymoon.

Marge started her banking career in 1963 with Southern Arizona Bank and retired in 1990 after 27 years of service with then Wells Fargo Bank. She was passionate about genealogy and her retirement years were spent researching her family history. She was an active member of The Arizona Genealogy Society for many years.

Classy was how many of her friends described her and this was evident in her attire. A master seamstress, Marge made most of her clothing throughout her life and shared her gift with her family creating beautiful clothing for her husband, sons, daughter-in-law and grandchildren. She loved gardening and her rose gardens filled the backyard of her homes.

She was a devoted member of The Church of Latter-Day Saints (Casa Adobes Ward, Tucson North Stake) where her service included being the church librarian and a visiting teacher supervisor; she brought comfort to those “shut-in” members of the church through visitation and written letters.

She is predeceased by her husband, Justin Smith; her son, Jason Smith; her sister Marilyn Faust; and her brother Eldon Dillon. She is survived by her son Kirk (Marnie) Smith; her two granddaughters, Hannah (Makayla) Marston and Noelle Smith; her sisters, Barbara (Bill) Walker, Janice (Don) Nelson, Joan (Terry) Haughawout, Linda Byrd; her brother Terry Dillon and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to Tucson Cold Wet Noses, a Tucson nonprofit dear to Marge. It was through TCWN Marge obtained her companion dog, Twix. www.tucsoncoldwetnoses.com or mail donations to 7138 N Perugia Way, Tucson, Arizona 85741.
