Obituary of Mary Lynn Guyot

This month of May we mourn the passing of Mary Lynn Guyot, May 18,1926—May 10, 2021. She was affectionately known as ‘GeeGee’ to her grandkids and ‘Lynn’ to her friends. Lynn was raised in Elwood and Indianapolis, Indiana. She attended both Christian Female College in Columbia, Missouri (Assoc. degree) and Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana (degree in English). At Butler she joined her beloved Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, where she made lifelong friends. She devoted many hours of service, held a variety of offices, and formed wonderful friendships as a member of the KKG Alumni Association, both in Scottsdale and Tucson.

Like many growing up in Indiana, Lynn loved auto racing, specifically, anything to do with Indy cars and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. She worked at the Speedway in the 1950s, secretary to the President, Wilbur Shaw. This Memorial Weekend will be the first race day that Lynn will have missed since the 1930’s.

She later met and married the love of her life, Bill Guyot on May 5th, 1956 (preceded in death 2010). They were married for 54 years and created their life and memories in Indianapolis, Scottsdale and Tucson, Arizona.

Lynn was a very creative person and over the years was involved in ceramics, painting, calligraphy, sewing, quilting, and entertaining. She co-owned and operated her own Home Decorating Business for many years in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Lynn is survived by her sons, Jay, Paul, and Jimmy (preceded in death, 1968); her daughter-in-law Lynn, and her beloved grandchildren, Alesha Farrell (Sean), Alex, Emily, Jack, and Molly Guyot.

Lynn received many blessings from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church through Service Worship projects and the Stephen Ministry program.

For those wishing to remember Mary Lynn in a special way, donations may be made to:

St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church with Mary Lynn Guyot/Service Worship or Mary Lynn Guyot/Stephen Ministry in the memo line.

Memorial Service will be held on June 6th at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church (NE corner).
