Obituary of Daniel George Hernandez
Daniel George Hernandez, lovingly known to his family as, Danny, Dad, Papa Honey and Uncle Danny. He was born in Tucson, Arizona on June 6, 1943, to Joe and Bessie Hernandez. He was the middle kid of large pack of 13 kids. In 1961, he graduated from Catalina High School, proudly joined the United Sates Navy and married his High School sweetheart, Joan Facchini.
Danny served 4 years in the United States Navy as a Boilermaker which led to a career that spanned over 50 years. He and his wife settled in Southern California where they raised their kids, Danielle and Reuben. Danny took great pride in the work that he did and his successes were evident. Even his brothers would tease him that after he retired and moved back to Tucson in 2005, he was the only person they knew that “went out and bought work”, and he would laugh it off in agreement.
Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Danny managed his illness with strength and grace. He passed away quietly in his sleep on March 31, 2021. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joan, daughter Danielle, son Reuben, son-in-law James, daughter-in-law Anita and his 5 grandsons, Daniel Joseph (29), Dominic Pietro (23), Lorenzo Alexander (22), Christopher James (19) and Andrew Vincent (12), his siblings and many nieces and nephews and loving family.
A memorial service will be held Saturday April 24, 2021 at 12pm at the Adair Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave. Tucson, AZ 85704.
