Obituary of Pamela Hoaglund

Pamela Ann (Mahaffey) Hoaglund, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away
January 7th 2021 at the age of 76. She is survived by her husband
Richard “Dick” Hoaglund, children Jennifer (John) Campbell and Scott
(Stephanie) Hoaglund, step-grandchildren Michele Lynn, Jennifer and
Shawn Campbell, grandchildren Hannah and Nate Hoaglund, step
great-grandchildren Hailey and Brendan Lopez, Jasmine, Allie and Tommy
Bullman, siblings Patricia (Ric) Jones, Mike Mahaffey, sister-in-law
Sharon Diehl, and many nieces and nephews. Pam joins her parents Gene
and Polly Mahaffey, nephew Ryan Mahaffey, and many lifelong friends
and beloved pets in heaven where she is spreading joy with her
contagious exuberance and beautiful smile.


Pam was born in Fullerton, CA on July 16, 1944, and raised in Anaheim,
CA where she graduated from Anaheim High School, class of 1962. Pam
and Dick moved to Tucson, AZ in 1965 where they raised their children.
Pam loved her family and took great pride in sharing the
accomplishments of her siblings, children, grandchildren, and pets to
anyone who would listen. Second only to her family, friends and faith,
was her love of art, which she instilled into her children by exposing
them to museums, the ballet, music, and most of all, her own works.
She was an exceptionally talented artist and author, and left behind
works of art that will be cherished forever. She created beloved
Christmas cards every year, depicting her family and pets, she painted
numerous paintings for many of the children in the family, and she
always painted a beautiful scene on the front window of her home for
every holiday. She has manuscripts and illustrations for children’s
books that have yet to be published. Pam was known to paint whatever,
and on whatever, was inspiring her at the time. One famous example is
in the summer of 1976 while visiting family in Anaheim, CA, she was
overcome with patriotism, and painted fire hydrants on the side of the
road into likenesses of our founding fathers.

Pam’s Christmas card from 1980 demonstrates her beliefs beautifully:

“Lord of all, to Thee we raise our Thanksgiving praise for healing
beyond hurt, for love beyond measure, for life beyond life, and
mysteries beyond comprehending. But most of all we are grateful that
‘...neither death, nor life… nor principalities, nor powers, nor
things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any
other creature shall be able to separate us from the love of God.’”
