Obituary of Kathryn Ann Fields

Kathryn Ann Fields, 70, of Tucson, Arizona passed away on Saturday, November 7, 2020 in Tucson Medical Center. On November 2nd, 1950 in Gary, Indiana, she was born as the daughter of Martin and Delores (Kirchner) Cole. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents. Kathy leaves behind her daughters, Liana (Michael) Garcia and Robin Schillinger of Tucson, AZ. Her Granddaughter, Jadeyn Schillinger of Tucson and Kathy's beautiful and faithful cat, Mattie. Two Sisters, Debby (Jack) Craig of Marshall, Illinois, Becky (Chris) Dolson of Verona, Wisconsin. Three brothers, Larry (Christine) Cole of Granger, Indiana. Gary (Sue) Cole of Wakarusa, Indiana and Tom (Mary) Cole of Niles, Michigan. Three step-brothers, Michael (PJ) Powell of Osceola, Indiana, Bart (Kay) Powell of Palmetto, Florida and Dave (Rhonda) Powell of Burleson, Texas. She had 4 Nieces, 7 Nephews, fourteen great nieces and nephews and 2 great-great nieces.

Kathy grew up in Terre Haute, Indiana and went to St Ann Parochial grade school. She was a 1968 graduate of Gerstemeyer Technical High School. On November 2nd, 1968 she was married to Sargent First Class Ronald Lee Fields in Terre Haute. While Ron was in Vietnam, Kathy stayed in Terre Haute and continued working at Terre Haute Carpet. When Ron returned, they were stationed in several areas and settled in Ft. Huachuca, Arizona where both daughters were born. Kathy and Ron divorced in 1980. Kathy worked Civil Service for ten years at Ft. Huachuca. She later went on to become a travel agent. She particularly enjoyed coordinating travel for the Tombstone Vigilantes. Kathy continued her work in the hospitality industry by working at several beautiful resorts in Tucson and hotels in Pinetop, Arizona. Kathy could initiate a conversation with anyone at any time. After she retired, she worked as a product demonstrator at local retail stores around Tucson.

Kathy had a great love for the outdoors and wildlife viewing. She spent many weekends in the White Mountains near Alpine, Arizona. Kathy deeply admired cruising. Kathy was a cat lover and rescued several cats throughout her life. She was known to leave bowls of food out for the homeless cats in her neighborhood. Kathy was a gracious host and a wonderful cook. She was an old soul at heart and had good old fashioned manners. Kathy had a great sense of humor and could make anyone laugh. Kathy truly enjoyed flying out to visit her Brothers and Sisters and her Aunt Jean and all the Kirchner Cousins. Above anything else, she devoted her life to her two daughters and granddaughter.

Kathy was cremated. A celebration of Kathy's life will be held in the spring near her home town of Terre Haute, Indiana.
