Obituary of Robert Charles Treece

Robert “Bob” Charles Treece, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 4, 2020 at age 81. He died peacefully at home, with family by his side, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Bob and his wife of 30 years, Pam, moved to Tucson from Yakima, WA in 2001. They sought the warmth of the desert sun and, being avid golfers, the opportunity to spend more time together on the greens. After settling in Tucson, they entered the realty business, forming the Treece Team with Long Realty. Never too busy for a round of golf, Bob was a life-long linksman who loved to both play and watch the game. He appreciated the year-round sun in Tucson that afforded him plenty of occasions to tee off at the Oro Valley Country Club, where he and Pam are members and frequent tournament participants.

Bob’s Christian faith was his source of peace and strength. He came to know Jesus later in life and that relationship became the bedrock that steadied and guided him through his remaining years and brought both inspiration and encouragement to his loved ones and all those who were blessed to know him. He and Pam made Canyon Del Oro Baptist Church their church home and enjoyed many years of fellowship there.

Bob was born in Seattle, WA on June 27, 1939, the son of John and Elvira Treece. After high school, he entered the United States Air Force, serving as an aircraft nuclear weapons loader for four years in bases on the east coast. He moved back to the Seattle area and married his first wife, Betty Estes, in 1960. In 1972, they settled in Snohomish, WA, where they raised three children together.. During that time, Bob began a career in asphalt and building construction that spanned 45 years. For 25 of those years, he worked for Lakeside Industries throughout the Northwest, beginning first as a truck driver, then moving inside as an estimator and eventually becoming a general manager. From there, he moved to Anchorage, AK where he spent four years working as a general manger for Rogers & Babler. Bob met Pam in Anchorage, when she worked for the Alaska Department of Transportation in highway construction. Their work-related connection led to a friendship that later grew into love. They married in 1990 and, along with Pam’s young daughter Bailey, relocated to Yakima, WA. There they partnered together to launch their own construction company, which they owned and operated until making the move to Tucson in 2001. That work partnership continued in their new city, but took a new direction.

Bob was a family man who deeply treasured his wife and dearly loved and supported his children through all the stages of their lives. He was always available to listen, offer the voice of experience and the wisdom that came from it, comfort in sad times, encourage in hard times, and bring calm to anxious times. He loved unconditionally but also called his children to always be and do their best and they are so thankful for it. He respected their individual life choices and made sure they knew how proud of them he was and how much he loved them. His heart for others was the same; he was grateful for and appreciative of his friends, both new and old, who added so much to his life. And he was thankful to God for the life he’d been given and for the gift of each new day in which to live it.

Bob is survived by his wife, Pam, and his four children Rob (Laurie), Sandy (Mike), John (Alice) and Bailey (Chris), along with 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, John; his mother, Elvira; and his brothers, Jack and Warren.

A celebration of Bob’s life will take place at 1:00 p.m. October 24, 2020, at Canyon Del Oro Baptist Church, 9200 N. Oracle Rd., Tucson. A reception will follow at the Oro Valley Country Club, 300 W. Greenock Dr., Tucson.
