Obituary of Marguerite Cullen Hutchins

Marguerite Cullen Hutchins, a homemaker and Tucson resident since 1945, died in Tucson on July 3, 2020. She was 100. A native of Illinois, Marge Hutchins came to Tucson as a war bride with her Navy Officer husband Dale so that he could attend the U of A Law School. At first appalled by the summer heat she grew to love desert flowers, clouds over the Catalinas and the spectacular sunsets. While her children attended SS Peter & Paul School, Marge served as a Girl Scout leader and grew many friendships among the other mothers. She also was an active bridge player and a long-time volunteer at the University Hospital gift shop. She will be remembered for her kindness to friends and neighbors; and her pride in the dozens of Nativity scenes she displayed each Christmas. Marguerite was born in East Dubuque, Illinois to Mary and Raymond Cullen on October 20, 1919. She was preceded in death by her husband Dale and her sister Adrienne Lagen. Her survivors include a sister, Eileen Dunphy of Dubuque IA; a son, Steve Hutchins of Saugatuck, MI; a daughter, May Ann Frisbie of Decatur, GA; three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. A private memorial service will be held.
