1939-2020 (age 80)
Beloved wife, loving mother and devoted sister, Sandra Jane Bird, at the age of 80, went on to be with the Lord on June 30, 2020, in Tucson, Arizona. She passed peacefully in her sleep directly into the everlasting arms of her Lord and Savior.
Sandra is survived by her children, Karen, wife of Mike Mieske, Julie, wife of Billy Tatum and Maurice Harold Bird. Sandra is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, Rachel, mother to Kyle, father of Jaylin, Shannon, Austin and Alexis, Tausha, mother of Elijah and Alicia, Russell, father of Sommar, William, father of Chloe, Larina, mother of Lydia, Collin, Mallory and baby girl due in September, Karianne, Nathaniel, Charlie, Matthew, Cole, Aaron, Leah and Noah.
Sandra was preceded in death by her parents Pansy Shirley Giggey and David Weston Lister, her brothers David, James and Ron Lister, her beloved daughter Rae Ann Wingo, her infant grandson Travis Wingo and her beloved husband of 64 years, Maurice A. Bird.
Sandra Jane Bird was born in the city of Limestone, Maine on September 26, 1939. At sixteen years old, she married Maurice Bird, completing her high school education while expecting her first child. She was a devoted wife for sixty-four years and a loving mother to her four children, dedicating her life to her family as a homemaker, residing principally in Boulder Creek, California. She was known for her homemade chocolate chip cookies, Tapioca pudding and playing the organ each Sunday in her local church. Sandra loved music, she loved to sing and she loved to crochet. She was an avid letter writer, sending letters of love and encouragement to her children and family members who lived all over the United States.
Sandra will always be remembered as a devoted wife to her husband and a mother who made her children, her life’s work. She loved to sing for the Lord, frequently playing her piano and organ for the churches she attended. She loved her children and her grandchildren, always welcoming them with a warm hug and an infectious smile.
A memorial service will be held for Sandra at the Central Coast Veteran’s Cemetery in Monterey, California where she will be interred with her husband who she loved so much. Together forever, dancing on the streets of gold Sandra has found perfect peace and health. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends who loved her so much.
