Obituary of Sheridan Waldo Eck
Sheridan Waldo Eck, 85, of Tucson, Arizona passed away April 23, 2020. He was born August 27, 1934 to Waldo & Avis Eck in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He had one sister, Cleo Trautmann who preceded him in passing last winter. He is survived by his loving wife LaVerne Eck, his three children, Janelle Robles, Julie Almeroth, Wendell Eck, son-in-law Rich Almeroth, daughter-in-law Sandra Eck, 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren and one on the way.
He grew up in Minnesota and lived in both Waubun and Minneapolis. He graduated from Vocational High School in 1953. Dan then joined the 10 th Infantry Division, Fort Riley, Kansas in 1954-1957 serving the Army in Korea. He attended Northwestern Bible College from 1957-1960. Dan always thought he would marry a redheaded curly haired orphan but God has a sense of humor as LaVerne has 12 siblings. He married his lovely bride on August 1, 1959 at Milburn Evangelical Free Church in Pine City on the corner of her family farm. Dan worked at the Evangelical Free Church Press as a printer for 2 years until God opened the door to become missionaries. They packed up their two little girls and drove a VW bug to attend Rio Grande Bible Institute in Texas for language school. They served in Venezuela as missionaries for 16 years. 8 years printing Christian literature for Latin America and 8 years in Evangelism and founding the Iglesia Evangelica Libre Agape in Maracay, Aragua in Venezuela which still meets to this day. He was also one of the first trainers introducing Evangelism Explosion in Spanish. He was an avid reader and wrote several Christian tracks and articles. They retired in 1983 and moved back to Minnesota for 3 years and then on to Arizona to be near family. Dan continued in evangelism with a big heart for reaching Mormons. He was determined to help others know the truth about God.
Dan became a Christian in Korea and was impacted by the work of missionaries in the orphanages. This is when he decided to go into full time ministry. His heart since then, has always been true to this call. There was nothing he enjoyed more than talking to others about the Lord and how they could be sure they were going to heaven. He held to the practice of planting seeds in others and letting God do the rest. We know many lives have been changed and he is rejoicing with many of them now.

We’d like to invite you to a Celebration of Life service July 10, 2020 at 6PM. Due to the social distancing protocol of Arizona, we are choosing a larger venue to honor the Covid-19 spacing. Every other row will be blocked and 3 seats will remain open between each family group. Wearing masks is required. Please feel free to pass this on to others who may know dad. We’re working on the possibility of a live stream or recording of the service. If you’re interested, please contact us.
