Heartfelt condolences to Fermin, sons, Connie, Lupita and family. I met Maria at Safford Jr High and she also lived in my neighborhood. We both went on to Tucson High and both went to work for the City of Tucson. Maria had a big heart and was kind to everyone. I especially remember how the simplest things made her giggle and laugh. She was always happy.
We had some real fun times and occasionally we got in trouble with her mom and mine as they kept a real close eye on us.I had the opportunity to meet her family in Mexico on her dad's side. They were kind people and they gave my family a place to stay when we visited Mexico. Maria stayed on with the City and I went on to the U of A and then worked as an administrator in Behavioral Health. We lost touch but I would occasionally run into her. I was very saddened to find out that she had been ill and of her passing. She will be missed by many. I will miss you. RIP Maria.
