Obituary of Herbert J. Christensen

Herbert J. Christensen, “Chris” to all his friends, passed away peacefully on Saturday June 13, 2020 two days after his birthday. He was 97. Predeceased by his loving wife Catherine, his four sisters Ruth, Helen, Dolly, and Edna, and his brother Budd, he is survived by his devoted daughter Kathy, son Tom (Ann), and his grandchildren Cassie (Brandon), James (Renee), and Emily (Alex). Born in the Bronx, NY, Chris was an avid music fan from an early age, and sang in the famed choir at St. James Church in Manhattan. He was also a life-long Yankees fan who also loved the Diamondbacks after moving to Arizona in 1988. In fact, he loved everyone he came in contact with, and they loved him back. A Navy Veteran, he served as a Radar Petty Officer on the USS Sigourney in WWII. He was a kind and generous soul, and he will live forever in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
