Obituary of Michael Ross Gedeiko
Michael R. Gedeiko went into the Lord’s loving arms following a long illness on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Preceded in death by his parents Henry & Leola. He has been reunited with his beloved father and fishing buddy Henry Gedeiko, who he missed dearly. Michael was born on December 21, 1947 and raised in Champaign, IL. He lived there until the age of 10. In 1957 his family moved west and settled in Tucson, AZ. Tucson is where he spent the remainder of his adult life, enjoying the mountains, the desert, and all its wildlife. He was a graduate of Catalina High School in 1966. To study his hobby of photography he attended Cochise Junior College for a year. He worked side by side with his father, became part owner of the family business, C&G Window Cleaning Co. He then ventured to Fullerton, California where he got a job at Alpha Beta’s Sunrich Warehouse as a warehouse manager in their Creamery. He returned to Tucson in 1971. In 1972 he married the love of his life, Bonnie. He became the Sexton of Christ the King Episcopal Church for 16 years. He retired in 1988. His passion and joy was spending countless hours out in his garage working on various woodworking and scroll sawing projects. Over the years, especially during the holidays and special occasions, many of you had become the recipients of his wonderful wood creations. Those who knew “Big Mike”, and there are many, knew him as a kind, compassionate, selfless soul who valued family, friends, faith, and was always there to lend a helping hand. He loved to bring joy to others in any way possible with his quick wit, and made it a point every day to make one person he met laugh and smile. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Bonnie, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews. Per his wishes there will be no service. For those who wish to make a memorial contribution, two of his favorite nonprofit organizations are the Arizona Sonoran Desert Museum and the Tucson Wildlife Center.
My Journey’s Just Begun Don’t think of me as gone away My journey’s just begun Life holds so many facets This earth is but one Just think of me as resting From the sorrows and the tears In a place of warmth and comfort Where there are no days and years Think of how I must be wishing That you could know today How nothing but your sadness Can really go away And think of me as living In the hearts of those I touched For nothing loved is ever lost And I know I was loved so much.
