We are so shocked and saddened by Celia's passing. We'll miss her huge smiles and welcoming hugs. Michael and Celia's love of travel was infectious. We could spend a whole evening swapping stories. And when Celia would email their latest, or upcoming adventures, we could just hear her voice so clearly each time. Michael, we'll see you soon. Marcia and Jerry

We were devastated to hear the news of Celia's sudden passing and extend our arms with hugs to Michael and family. We have been remembering all the wonderful and wacky times we spent together as "The Four Emus"! When we raise a glass of wine at dinner we toast our dear sweet Celia. The world will miss her ready smile and laughter. Rest in peace lovely lady.

I met Celia (and Michael) in 1984, at Crystal Beach, and we've been friends ever since. Celia was always smiling and happy. I remember one of the first stories Celia told me was about how she and Michael recreated an old shaving cream ad -- with a coaster car bursting through a wall of foam -- for local TV. That was such a cool, fun thing to do, and I was even a little jealous! We last saw Celia and Michael at dinner on November 2, when they came through southern California on -- what else? -- a coaster trip. As usual, Celia was happy and smiling, and proudly showing photos of her sons. I am so glad to have seem her one last time and I will treasure the memory. Celia, if there are coasters in Heaven, I know you're in the front seat right now. (PS. I didn't mean to sent the short and woefully inadequate "So Sorry" message before; I accidentally posted it. )

Jane, Mike, Joshua, Jake and the Horwood family, Many memories of Celia throughout the years come flooding back to me. Celia as a lively, young girl with red curly hair which never quite behaved the way she wanted it to. Celia as a happy bride, excited to start a new life married to Mike. Celia as a mother of two boys. Celia as an author, writing and publishing a book on Uncle Tom (her dad), a well known landscape artist. Celia as a bit of a dare devil, going on roller coaster adventures. Memories are what we have left of her and hopefully they will help to console all of you at this difficult time. Although we are far away, our thoughts are with you. We can only offer our deepest sympathies. Take care of each other. Judith Roberts-Moore (cousin) and Bob Moore, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

Our families met at roller coaster conventions and we've been friends ever since. Celia was a wonderful person, always gracious, always welcoming to everyone. She could tell a story or she could listen intently to yours. We enjoyed the yearly photo Christmas cards watching your family grow through the years. Celia will be missed by all. Pat and Karen (Michael and Brian)

Mike, Joshua and Jacob, I am so very sorry. When I first met Celia the thing that struck me was her smile, She really lit up a room. One of my favourite memories...going with Jane to watch the taping of "Thrill of a Lifetime" and watching Mike and Celia on that roller coaster at Crystal Beach. There was that smile again. Celia, "He will raise you up on eagles wings, bear you on the breath of dawn, make you to shine like the sun and hold you in the palm of His hand". Wishing you all peace. Charlotte Leavitt

Susan Ridley posted a condolence
This is Susan Ridley, Jane's sister-in-law, in Calgary, Canada, I have some fond memories of Celia: like Jane & Bryan taking we little sisters mini-golfing when they were dating & then being a bridesmaid with Celia as Maid of Honour at their wedding; Celia & Mike's wedding & of course, how Cel's description in her book about her father, of Tom's part-time job at 18, working at Michie's in Toronto to earn cash for art supplies, was EXACTLY like his description of that part of his life story told to Jane, Bryan & I at Thanksgiving '97. That was the last time I saw him. While reading that part of Celia's book, I swear, he was in my living room with me. :) And of course, when Bryan's & my Auntie Avis died in '95, Celia & Mike's son, Jacob, was so kind & entertaining & giving to my beautiful, then 2 year old daughter, Julia. Not only did Jacob entertain her, he gave her a stuffy, Bronco the Wonder Dog, at that otherwise, sad, sad Christmas Dinner at Bryan & Jane's house! You need to know, Jacob, I had the pleasure of Bronco being in my house for 2 weeks again in October, as Julia placed him atop her antique trunk to "guard" her stuff while she waited to get into a new apartment! :) At 26, she still loves that sweet, sweet & kind gift from you. :) Finally,I just pulled Cel's book off the shelf & happened upon the preface she wrote for the last chapter, as I believe it to be true: "I know in my heart that Tom is looking down on us and is pleased at how we have coped." Lovely photo of young Joshua, Jacob & Tom a few pages in. So now Celia will look down on all of you and also be pleased with how you have coped. Hang in at this hard, hard time. Love, Susan

Celia set the bar high in the Piloxing class at the Northwest YMCA. Her high energy and flawless moves were both intimidating and motivating. Celia lived life to the fullest, and I am glad I had a chance to get acquainted with her through exercise class.
