Obituary of Kenneth W Nakari

For a man so full of laughter and life, death seems an improper end for Ken Nakari. But his laugh softened in the last year or two, the energy faded, as those who loved him (and they were many) observed with a helpless acceptance. He left us on November 9, 2019, in Tucson, AZ. He was a 2nd Lt. in the US Army and served as Artillery Officer at the DMZ in Korea, then Capt. In the Army Reserves. Ken loved the wild lake country of the Minnesota boundary waters, his birthplace (Virginia, MN; Nov. 25, 1937). Armed with a degree from Kansas State University, he journeyed to Denver, where in 1966 he found his life's love in Judy (Boersma), his loving wife of 53 years. The two made an adventuresome couple, returning to Ken's turf to own and operate Red Loon Lodge on Lake Vermillion, MN for several years. It was a magical place to them and their two little boys, giving them each a love for the outdoors—Matt, residing in Louisville, CO with his wife Molly and two daughters Addison and Langley, and Tim, living in Broomfield, CO with his wife Michele and children Gavin and Violet. When Ken and Judy returned to Denver, Ken began a career in property development that has left a significant mark on the city's landscape. He was General Manager of several large-scale planned communities, notably Ken Caryl Ranch and Roxborough Park in Denver, and Sun Lakes in Phoenix. Decades later, as their boys moved into their own lives, Ken and Judy retired to the desert of Tucson, Arizona, where they lived until Ken succumbed to health issues. Now, he's on to the next adventure, a big one, and we send our love. Ken was a member Church of the Painted Hills, Tucson AZ; and Evergreen Christian Church, Evergreen CO, and was active in both, leading Bible studies and singing in the choir. Memorial service will be held at Church of the Painted Hills on November 25, 2019 at 1PM. Online condolences can be given at Adair Funeral Homes.com
