Obituary of Julie Jean Jeffrey

With great sadness we announce that Julie Jean Jeffrey, entered eternal rest on October 8, 2019 in Tucson, Arizona at the age of 80. Her death followed after several strokes over the last 11 years. She is at peace. Julie is preceded in death by her parents, Jesse W. Jackson and Augusta Lucile Inman Jackson, as well as two husbands, Richard Crane and Bruce Kell. Julie's memory will be cherished by her daughters, Kathleen Carroll of Dayton, Ohio, and Lorrie Palmquist and son-in-law Bob Palmquist of Tucson, Arizona. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters, June King of Tucson, Arizona and Judy and Bill Hand of Newton, Kansas. Grammy will be missed by her granddaughters, Margaret Carroll of Dayton, Ohio and Hannah Palmquist of Minneapolis, Minnesota and her great-granddaughter, Aubrielle. Her nieces and nephews will miss their Aunt Jeannie. She is also survived by her step-son Pat Kell of Georgia and his children, Shawn, Tim and Heather, and his grandchildren. Born in Springfield, Missouri on February 21, 1939, she attended high school in Newton, Kansas and graduated from Warrensburg High School, Warrensburg, Missouri in 1957. She then moved from Missouri to Tucson, Arizona. In the mid-1960s she moved to Hopkinsville, Kentucky where she worked as a nurse for Dr. Rachel Croft and Dr. Ruth Coppedge; and eventually worked as an Office Manager for Dr. Terry Fuqua. While in Hopkinsville, she was active in several community groups, supported the arts and she was a member of the Pennyrile Players community theater. She had lived in Tucson since relocating there in 1981. Julie was the Administrative Assistant for Pima County Department of Forensic Sciences until she retired. She loved music and played the cello with the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra of Tucson. Julie was a member of Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. Julie is remembered as a loving mother and family member. She was an energetic, creative woman who lived life with curiosity, determination and purpose. She had a life-long love of reading and a delightful sense of humor. She found delight in all kinds of music (she was as much a fan of Chopin and Rachmaninoff as she was of Elvis) and she enjoyed classic movies. She was an accomplished seamstress, having been heavily involved with theater costuming, synchronized swimming costuming, as well as the seamstress for Creative Dance Arts and Dance Magnificat. Julie also enjoyed embroidery, knitting and crocheting. She especially loved the Christmas holidays. Cremation and final arrangements are provided by Adair Funeral Home, 8090 N Northern Avenue, Oro Valley, AZ. A private celebration of Life will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Stroke Foundation which supports research but also provides support for stroke survivors and their families and caregivers.
