Obituary of James W. Partin
James Wesley Partin, 85, of Tucson, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on October 10, 2019 in Tucson, Arizona.
He was born on April 21, 1934 to Calvin and Opal (Webb) Partin at Port Townsend, WA. His childhood was spent moving around as a "military brat", after which he got a degree in engineering and a Masters in Business Administration. During his time studying electrical engineering, James was very active and excelled in the Air Force ROTC program. James retired as a Lt. Colonel after serving 28 years in the Air Force. His military career included several tours of duty as a B52 pilot including serving in Viet Nam and as a B52 instructor pilot. At the time of his retirement, he had served as Base Civil Engineer for three (3) years at Blytheville AFB, Arkansas.
James moved to Tucson after he retired from the service. James loved learning. He took quite a few on-line classes including Astronomy, Nuclear Physics, Religions of the World and many others. But his favorite classes were in art. He became an accomplished artist in a number of mediums including oils, water-colors, and sculpting. But his favorite was probably sketching. He sketched almost every day of his life. He could have sold his art but didn't. His joy was just doing his art.
James is survived by his loving spouse of 38 years, Peg; two brothers; four daughters and four sons; and, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and one son.
