Obituary of Loren Vance Rector
Beloved son and U.S. Army Veteran, Loren Vance Rector, 46 of Tucson, AZ passed away peacefully on September 18, 2019 at the Southern Arizona VA Hospital. Loren lost his 16 month battle with cancer in hospice, surrounded by family.
Loren was born January 4, 1973 to Robert and Deborah (Connor) Rector in Savannah, GA. He came to Tucson with his mother and step-father in 1986, attending Cross Middle School and Canyon Del Oro High School, Class of '92. Loren entered the U.S. Army in 1993, serving 5 years of active duty and an additional 15 years in the Arizona Army National Guard. He was also a full-time employee of the National Guard at Silverbell AHP as an Aviation Life Support Equipment Technician and Flight Operation Specialist. Loren was proud to have served in Afghanistan, 2007-2008, with the 1-285 ARB, TF Desert Hawk.
Loren loved golf, playing poker, and Nissan Z's. He enjoyed attending car shows and was a member of the Tucson Z Club. In 2013 he received an Associate of Science Degree in Technology from ITT.
Loren is survived by his mother and step-father, Deborah and Larry Pucci of Tucson, his father Robert Rector of Kansas, Grandmother Mary K. Pucci and many loving uncles, aunts, and cousins. Loren is also survived by his "second family", the Albrecht's, Ken, Laurie, Mike, Bri, and Kevin. He leaves behind many friends and co-workers who gave tremendous love and support in his final days.
A Memorial Service in Loren's honor will take place at Adair Funeral Home Avalon Chapel, 8090 N. Northern Ave., Tucson, AZ 85704 on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 12:00pm.
