Obituary of Richard Louis Collins
Born in South Bend, IN to George and Virginia Collins. Survived by two children, Linda Collins (Nancy) and
Gayle Gilman (Doug) and three grandchildren Chris (Heather), Lindsey (Bren) and Rachel, and great grandsons George and James.
Richard (Dick) graduated from Elston High School in Michigan City, IN in 1955 and married his high school sweetheart Mavis Brant on 8/1/1959. Dick enjoyed several careers in Michigan City, working in construction, insurance and banking. After moving to Tucson in 1984 he worked as a real estate appraiser and started up his own appraisal business.
He led a very active life of biking, hiking, running, and traveling/camping, including hiking the Grand Canyon multiple times. He enjoyed singing in the church choir for many years. For the last 20 years he and Mavis spent their summers in Indiana spending time with family.
He was known for his generous spirit, his kindness, and outgoing personality. He found something to love in everyone and was a friend to anyone who encountered him. He will be missed by all who knew him.
